Telefonica Global Solutions and Allied Fiber have signed a 20-year fiber deal in the U.S. The deal covers dark fiber, shared facility space, and network connections. It will help strengthen Telefonica's network across the Americas. Allied Fiber is the first open-access, neutral fiber and facility provider in the U.S.
The deal gives Telefonica its own dedicated network space within the Allied Fiber system. This gives Telefonica more control over its service, growth, and costs. Allied Fiber's Southeast network spans over 360 miles across Florida. It was built to serve all kinds of network operators. This includes national, regional, and local carriers, plus undersea cable networks.
Telefonica already operates in the Americas through its Sam-1 submarine cable, which connects the U.S. and Latin America, and its new 3,700-mile PCCS cable system. Together, these give Telefonica more access points into the U.S., stronger connections to Colombia, Ecuador, and Central America, and better capacity, security, and network diversity for its corporate and wholesale customers.
